Remote-controlled cars are super fun to drive—both on the road and offroad! Many people think it's the most fun when they're FAST!

NITRO CAR

Back in the day, the fastest cars were equipped with a nitro engine. It was a fuel engine that ran on a concoction called nitromethane.

Having a nitro car was, however, a hassle. The nitro engine required maintenance and was often hard to start. The nitro fuel itself had to be stored safely and had a limited shelf life. At the same time, you had to adjust the engine to make sure it didn't get too hot—or too cold.

Driving a nitro car was certainly fun, but you needed to have an interest in getting a little oil on your fingers and spending quite a bit of time figuring out why it wouldn't start.

It's also difficult to get hold of fuel for nitro cars. There are hardly any retailers selling it anymore.

ELECTRIC CARS TAKE OVER

Today, electric remote-controlled cars have long surpassed the old nitro engine cars. Especially once the cars were outfitted with Brushless motors and lithium batteries, things really took off. Electric cars gained both higher top speeds and much more powerful acceleration.

THE SOUND OF A NITRO CAR

Yes, nitro cars have a wild sound, and it sounded really great when the nitro car was launched. But the neighbors didn't always appreciate that wild noise.

Electric cars don't make much noise—but once you've seen those electric superpowers unleashed, you'll never go back to a nitro car.
