Description
The Hornet! The big brother to the ever-popular Grasshopper, now with even more Go Fast Power, thanks to the powerful RS 540 motor, lightweight body, and oil dampers at the rear. Easy to build, easy to use, and all at a truly beginner-friendly price.
NOTE: THIS IS A KIT!
Though the electronics have fast-forwarded into the future, The Hornet still flaunts its iconic 80s look. Just like back in 1984, it's a fantastic build-it-yourself car for those who haven't tried building a car before or for those who just want a nostalgic trip back in time.
You need to assemble your Hornet. It's like putting together Technic Lego—just follow the manual, and after a few relaxing evenings, you'll have a cool ready-to-drive race car.
To get it ready to roll, you'll need a radio set (with servo, battery, and charger) and an ESC. Save 20% when purchased with the car!
Tamiya Hornet Highlights
- Cool look like a true Offroad Racer
- Lightweight polycarbonate body you can paint and style as you like
- Simple and easy construction with a well-thought-out manual
- Standard RS 540 motor
- Easy to upgrade with an RS 540 Sports tuned motor for extreme speed
- Aluminum oil dampers at the back

Workshop Tips and Videos
When building our own Tamiya cars, we often upgrade the original plastic bearings to real ball bearings. With ball bearings, your car runs smoother, giving you both higher top speed and extended driving time. This is especially a good idea if you tune your Hornet with the robust RS 540 motor. For The Hornet, you will need one set of each of these - 1150 and 850.
Tuning the Hornet? Upgrade to a Tamiya RS 540 Sport tuned motor for max top speed and wild acceleration. Need we say it’s at your own risk?
If you’re unlucky enough to need spare parts for your Tamiya car, you'll find all part numbers at the back of your manual. Once you have the correct part number, contact us at support@morfars.dk, and we can order the spare parts for you. ()
